Rick Guinn Receives Endorsement from Friends of Police
Police officer groups from Leawood, Mission, Overland Park, Shawnee and Olathe endorse Rick Guinn for Johnson County District AttorneyJohnson County, KS – A successful District Attorney’s office depends on a cooperative relationship with the police officer force. That is why Rick Guinn took another big step toward his election to the Johnson County District Attorney office when he received the unanimous support from the Friends of Police.
The Friends of Police, which is composed of Overland Park, Leawood, Mission, Shawnee, and Olathe current and former police officers, gave a vote to endorse Rick Guinn for District Attorney.
Rick Guinn and Steve Howe both discussed their qualifications and answered questions before the Friends of Police. They chose Rick unanimously.
If elected, Rick promises the voters of Johnson County that he will return professional prosecuting back to the District Attorney office. “I am extremely grateful to receive the endorsement from our police officers. They are the men and women on the front lines, and it is an honor to receive such support from them. They have seen Steve and I in a courtroom, and they know the job that I can provide the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.”
Guinn, who spent 26 years as a prosecutor in Johnson County, became First Assistant District Attorney in 1989. During his career as a prosecutor, Guinn personally tried over 100 criminal jury trials, maintaining a 90 percent conviction rate. Rick has also received the endorsement of the Johnson County firefighter organizations.
In January of 2007, Guinn joined the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, where he currently leads the Criminal Justice Division and prosecutes major felonies to assist counties across the state. He is currently prosecuting a number of high profile cases.
Additionally, Guinn has served as president of the Johnson County Bar Association, board member of the child advocacy center Sunflower House and board member of Bethpage, a residential care facility for developmentally disabled adults.
Guinn lives in Overland Park with his wife Angela and their two sons.
